Help wanted: 100 workers at Student Assistance Foundation in Helena, Montana

Helena’s Student Assistance Foundation http://www.safmt.org/ is holding a career fair today for the former and soon-to-be-former employees of Heritage Propane.

The nonprofit SAF recently created a for-profit subsidiary, Tru Student Inc. http://www.trustudent.com/ , which will service new federally owned student loans under a pending contract with the federal government. The subsidiary is expected to make up for business lost in 2010 when Congress eliminated the Federal Family Education Loan Program, under which SAF serviced federally guaranteed loans.

Tru Student will need about 100 new employees, all based in Helena, to help start up the new program. Most of the positions are customer-service jobs, helping counsel borrowers.
