Women-owned businesses flourish, fill niches in Great Falls, Montana

Marci Marceau had an excellent role model and mentor who helped inspire her to go into business for herself.

That mentor was Luz Paul, Marceau’s mother.

Paul moved to Great Falls from Mexico in 1968 after meeting Marceau’s father, who was in the Navy. With a sixth grade education and limited English language skills, Paul opened Luz’s Mexican Restaurant in 1979.

"I just admire her because she had the back bone, the guts, whatever you call it, when so many people said, ‘you can’t do it,’" Marceau said.
