Idaho Power test of variable power pricing could help its grid and some consumers

Idaho Power http://www.idahopower.com/ will expand a pilot project to 1,200 Treasure Valley homes to have power prices more closely reflect the demands on the utility’s power supply.

The utility has used time-based pricing systems for several years with industrial, commercial and agricultural users and has had some success working with farmers. But so far, it hasn’t had home power consumers adjust their usage to certain times of day.
