Montana Career Opportunity – Director of Marketing & Communications – Blue Marble Biomaterials

Blue Marble Biomaterials http://www.bluemarblebio.com, a clean technology company based out of Seattle, Washington and
Missoula, Montana, is looking for an experienced sales, marketing, and communications director
who is passionate about natural products and sustainability.

The company is part of the specialty
chemical sector, selling natural and sustainable ingredients to consumer packaged good
manufacturers, flavoring and fragrance manufacturers, and global distributors. We are a young

This position reports directly to the Chief Business Officer and will manage several staff and
interns. Because the company is based out of both Seattle and Missoula, candidates must have a
flexible travel schedule. Candidates out of Seattle may travel up to one week per month,
candidates out of Missoula will travel less.

Sales & Marketing Responsibilities – 65% of time!

* Act as the team lead for all website updates including the implementation and
maintenance of the e-commerce web portal.

* Manage and implement all sales planning activity with Chief Business Officer.

This includes:

* Acting as the team lead for trade-show strategy, implementation, and trade-show
sales campaigns;

* Designing and leading effective print and online advertising campaigns;

* Designing and leading special offer campaigns, lead generation campaigns, and
customer loyalty programs and;

* Measuring the success of sales initiatives and programs.

* Maintain brand consistency across all mediums including written materials, images,
videos, presentations, and social media.

* Manage the internal market analysis database. This includes managing research interns,
report outputs, and IT consultants to update database functionality.

* Make recommendations on product pricing based on information and analysis from the
market analysis database.

* Coordinate closely between the Science Team and the Sales Team to make sure that
updates on product specifications, applications, and advantages are clearly communicated
in all mediums.

Communications Responsibilities – 30% of time

* Act as point of contact for all media inquiries and conduct interviews when necessary.

* Maintain relationships with members of the media through regular outreach and news
pitches.

* Manage all news releases. This includes drafting all communiqués and press releases for
executive review, releasing press releases on the newswire, and forwarding press releases
to reporter contacts.

* Work with our PR agency to maximize exposure to press.

* Act as the team lead for the company blog in order to keep a regular editorial schedule.

* Screen all public communications for confidential information.

* Implement op-ed strategy by drafting and pitching stories to target authors.

* Work with staff to keep all official documents updated, including the business plan and
executive summary, and other internal documents.

Administrative Responsibilities – 5% of time

* Oversee the marketing & communications budget to ensure all communications and
marketing projects stay within projected expenses.

* Report weekly activities to the Chief Business Officer.
Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, chemistry, communications, or other related fields.
MBA preferred.

* 2+ years of sales and marketing experience.

* Experience in media and communications management.

* 1+ years of experience in a management position.
