IdahoTechnology Council Launches Cohort Series for Early-Stage CEOs

The Idaho Technology Council today launched a cohort leadership development series with a group of early-stage CEOs invited by the ITC Leadership Committee to participate in a mentoring series. The ITC Cohort Series is focused on the resources, strategies and advice needed to grow and sustain technology businesses. The series of meetings brings together early-stage CEOs and "seasoned" executives to discuss industry insights and emerging issues.

ITC’s Leadership Committee recognizes leadership development is core to ITC’s mission. Providing early stage CEOs the forum to gain advice from their more experienced peers through the Cohort Series is an essential part of fostering the development of successful technology companies in Idaho.

"We took a careful look at what the Idaho technology sector needs now, and broadening the skill sets of promising early-stage CEOs stood out as a must-do," said Archie Clemins, a member of the ITC executive committee and chairman of the ITC leadership committee. "We will grow Idaho technology companies by helping the innovators who start these companies increase their management knowledge and learn best practices from those who have been there and done that very successfully."

At each meeting of the Cohort Series, an executive from an established Idaho company will speak about their experience of starting and building a successful business. The Cohort Series will be an opportunity for up-and-coming CEOs to receive guidance and helpful advice from their peers. Each meeting will include a speaker/mentor and a round-table discussion of industry issues.

"We intend to create education, networking, community and mentorship opportunities for our participants," says Jonathon Fishman, organizer and director of the Cohort Series, "We want to bridge the gap between those who have already started a company with those that are making their first attempt. The result should be the evolution of the technology ecosystem in Boise. This is very critical to the success of these young companies."

Companies participating will gain value across multiple tiers of their management team over a 24- to 36-month period. Participants will have a record of lessons to take home and share with their own management teams. The Cohort Series for early-stage CEOs will be followed by mentoring series for other executive positions, such as CMOs, CIOs and CFOs.

Through the Cohort Series, ITC aims to reinforce leadership development, educate young entrepreneurs and build a unified community, all of which are crucial to developing sustainable technology businesses in Idaho.
