Gen. Clark says U.S. needs both strong economy and military – Public talk March 5 at Montana State University.

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark says if America is going to succeed in the 21st century, it must retain its military strength and build a new, stronger economy.

"I’m worried about the future of America," Clark said in a phone interview Thursday. "The (economic) model that served us so well in the Cold War era is passe, it’s gone.

Clark will give a public talk March 5 at Montana State University.

Carmen McSpadden, director of MSU’s Leadership Institute http://www.montana.edu/wwwlead1/ , one of the sponsors of Clark’s appearance, said Clark would answer questions from students and the public after his talk. He will also conduct a class with students during the day.

Tickets for the talk in the Strand Union Building ballrooms cost $3 for students and $8 for the public. They’re available through http://ticketswest.com, the Bobcat ticket office and Ask Us Desk.
