Washington Companies program rewards workers with gift cards to donate to charity

Bruce Young is torn.

The Montana Rail Link http://www.montanarail.com/ procurement manager has $500 to donate to charity, but which one?

"I’m not sure yet. I’m fond of the Ronald McDonald House," he said. "The other place is Boy Scouts of America. I was thinking it’s a great organization that gives to the boys in the community."

Young’s dilemma, albeit a good one, arises thanks to the Washington Companies’ "Pay It Forward" program, which rewarded 250 employees from five companies this week with $500 gift cards to give to a charity of their choice. This is the fifth year the Washington Companies http://www.washcorp.com/ have offered the program.

This year, Phyllis Washington, wife of billionaire industrialist Dennis Washington, decided to double the amount distributed to each employee, from $250 to $500.
