Influential Missoula attorney Mae Nan Ellingson retires

A Missoula attorney who has had an impact on hundreds of projects around Montana retired Friday.

Mae Nan Ellingson says she first left her mark as the youngest delegate to the state Constitutional Convention in 1972 as a 24-year-old.

"We really made some profound changes in 1972 in the way people viewed government, the way government is supposed to act, and the things that government can do. The open meetings laws, citizens right to know, the right to participate. Those are just givens now. They were not givens then."
