Bozeman schools emphasize real-life problem solving to prepare kids for 21st century

When his class at Whittier School was assigned to build a miniature community from milk cartons and cardboard, 9-year-old Cody made sure his neighborhood had a school, a dog named Sniffles and a wild game farm for his passion, hunting.
Other students in teacher Cherryl Underhill’s third-grade class built a shopping mall, a skateboard park and a big public library with an outdoor coffee shop.
