Montana History Foundation Announces Availability of First Ever Preserve Montana Grants

$50,000 in Funds Available for Montana Community-Based History Projects

The Montana History Foundation (MHF) a statewide nonprofit committed to the preservation of Montana’s past is proud to offer grants from our Preserve Montana Fund to protect the historic legacy of communities across the state.

"We are pleased to be able to offer this funding and hope Montanans will take full advantage of the Preserve Montana Fund Grants. So much of who we are depends on where we come from and preserving that legacy is of major importance to the Montana History Foundation," MHF President Bruce Parker said.

The grants are available to organizations and individuals who want to preserve historical assets of importance to Montana’s history. These projects include buildings, particularly one-room school houses; oral histories; and collection/archival preservation. MHF has $50,000 available during this grant cycle for projects in 2012.

Grant criteria and guidelines are available from MHF online at http://mthistory.org or by contacting MHF at (406) 449-3770 or [email protected] The grants will be awarded for projects ranging in scale from $500.00 to $5,000.00. Applications will be accepted between December 1, 2011 and January 11, 2012.

MHF is able to offer this funding thanks to a generous grant from the Steele Reese Foundation and individual donors who recognize the urgency and importance of preserving Montana’s way of life.
