Montana Rail Link takes 1st step to discontinuing Bitterroot, Polson lines

Montana Rail Link is taking the first step toward discontinuing service on two major lines serving Ravalli, Lake and Sanders counties.

MRL has filed the "Notice of Intent to Discontinue" forms for both the Bitterroot Branch Line and the Polson Branch Line with the federal Surface Transportation Board. The notice says MRL will file the formal application asking for permission to discontinue service on the two lines next April.
