Former Missoula Area Economic Development Corp. officials claim they were misled, deceived by ex-president , Dick King

Four months after announcing the Missoula Area Economic Development Corp. had run out of money, those left to calm the troubled wake in its closure are still trying to make sense of the mess.

In doing so, members of MAEDC’s last board of directors have found themselves with questions about how longtime president Dick King used some of the nonprofit corporation’s development money. They use words like "misleading" and "deception."

And King, who retired in March, is on the defense, arguing that hard economic times forced some difficult, though not illegal, decisions during MAEDC’s final years.
