Senator Baucus Announces That Oracle Plans to Expand Business in Bozeman Through RightNow Acquisition – Company Was Drawn To Montana Through Baucus’ Economic Development Summits

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus http://baucus.senate.gov/ joined Oracle Corporation http://www.oracle.com today in announcing the global software giant’s plans to do businesses in Montana. Oracle has acquired RightNow Technologies http://www.rightnow.com/ of Bozeman with plans to maintain and expand business in Montana. The company says it was drawn to Montana in part because of the national exposure of Baucus’ Economic Development Summits.

"Montana is a rising technology center and leaders like Senator Baucus make it a great place to do business. Oracle is excited to join the Montana business community and grow our presence there in the years to come," said Safra Catz, President, Oracle Corporation.

"We’ve shown time and time again with our Economic Development Summits that when we give Montana entrepreneurs a chance to shine in the national spotlight, they steal the show and the attention of big name job creators like Oracle," Baucus said. "RightNow Technologies is a great company that has proven Montana can produce home-grown, state-of-the art technology. Landing Oracle’s business in Montana is a big win for Montana jobs and another great return on our investment in Economic Development in Montana."

"I am so proud of RightNow’s employees, who have created a world-class business in Bozeman that attracted the world’s largest enterprise software company to establish operations in Montana. I am excited that Oracle will leverage the solid foundation we have laid over the past 14 years and increase investment to create more careers in Montana," Greg Gianforte, CEO and Founder, RightNow Technologies

Oracle purchased RightNow Technologies, a leading provider of cloud-based customer service, based in Bozeman, Montana, for $43.00 per share or approximately $1.5 billion net of RightNow’s cash and debt. The transaction was unanimously approved by RightNow’s Board of Directors and is expected to close by late 2011 or early 2012, subject to RightNow stockholder approval, certain regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

With more than 380,000 customers–including 100 of the Fortune 100–and with deployments across a wide variety of industries in more than 145 countries around the globe, Oracle offers an optimized and fully integrated stack of business hardware and software systems.

Oracle says it has been moving aggressively to offer customers a full range of Cloud Solutions – including sales force automation, human resources, talent management, social networking, databases and Java – as part of the Oracle Public Cloud, and RightNow’s leading customer service cloud will be a very important addition.
