NorthWestern Energy Encourages Helena Customers to Join Smart Grid Pilot Program

NorthWestern Energy is extending the deadline for customers in the midtown area of Helena, Mont., to participate in the company’s regional Smart Grid Demonstration Project.

NorthWestern sent out postcards to more than 1,200 customers that are served by the Golf Course Substation, an area roughly between Custer Ave. to the Cathedral and Last Chance Gulch to Montana Street, inviting them to participate in the pilot program. Customers who participate in the two-year program will receive new equipment which will enable them to monitor their energy usage and take appropriate actions on a real-time basis. NorthWestern Energy will monitor and measure customer acceptance and energy use behavioral changes through the program.
