North Fork float provides wilderness, relaxation on edge of Glacier Park

We’d packed plenty of everything for a trip along Glacier National Park’s western boundary except air.

We could have used a little more time, too, but that’s always in short supply. As it was, a three-day adventure along the North Fork of the Flathead River hit the sweet spot between wilderness and relaxation. There was the little matter of sinking halfway through the trip, but we were almost to the takeout anyway.

My son Martin and friends Kris and Alex had hiked other parts of Glacier’s backcountry in previous summers. This year, Kris said he wanted to work on his fly-fishing. Where could we go with a cataraft?
