After years of facing a stagnant stock price, Weyerhaeuser http://www.weyerhaeuser.com/ finally gave Wall Street what it wanted: a smaller company focused on timberlands rather than paper and packaging mills.

Pure play in timber and housing designed to make Weyerhaeuser more attractive to investors came at a bad time for residential construction.
