Family looks to future 8 months after Missoula, Montana rallys to help fund girl’s life-changing hip surgery

It’s been about eight months since Montanans opened their hearts and their wallets to help an 8-year-old Missoula girl named Mikaslyn Larson get an expensive life-changing surgery.

After many long weeks in Texas, where the procedure took place, and after their return home, parents Rick and Kristine Larson want everyone to know Mikaslyn is recovering well from the complicated hip reconstruction – and the whole family is grateful for the goodwill that has been heaped upon them.

Before word reached the Missoulian about their need and before a news story prompted strangers to step forward to help, the Larsons’ life was filled with worry and despair.

But these past months, so many wonderful things have happened in their lives, Rick Larson doesn’t know how to explain it all.
