State rules to power growing plug-in car market

The rollout of electric cars could pose problems for utility companies – if they aren’t prepared.

Too many plug-in cars on the same block could overload the neighborhood’s power grid. Drivers recharging during the day could increase the amount of electricity the utilities need to supply.
