New program takes aim at dropout rate "Youth Build Helena."

School trustees recently approved a new program aimed at lowering the dropout rate by partnering with Career Training Institute to help young adults earn a high school diploma, a wage and construction skills.

Thanks to a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, 56 disadvantaged youths in the area will have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, work alongside professionals constructing low-income family housing and be compensated for their time.

It’s a two-year venture between CTI, the Helena School District, and the University of Montana-Helena titled "Youth Build Helena."
