Silicon Valley teacher leads the charge for National Science Day

Clyde Mann has an idea of what a National Science Day would look like in the United States.

It would look like a sunny spring day at Warm Springs Elementary School in Fremont where he recently and almost single-handedly organized a Science Alliance Day. The event was a prototype for schools across the country that Mann is sure, absolutely sure, will follow his lead once he scores an act of Congress proclaiming an annual national science celebration.

"If it’s done in the way that we’re doing it at this school, you’re going to have a whole generation of kids across the country that are going to be very interested and engaged in science and are going to want to pursue science in the future," Mann says. "This is the Apollo moment acted upon."
