Helena Area businesses receive awards

At its annual meeting Thursday evening, Gateway Economic Development Corporation announced its 2002 business award winners and the officers of its board of directors for 2002-2003.

The award winners:

–Building a Business Award: Riverbend Publishing, Chris and Linda Cauble. The award recognizes a business that has opened its doors in the past 12 months and in that time has been outstanding through creation of sound business and employment opportunities.

–Business Growth Award: Summit Design and Manufacturing, Thomas Hoffman. The award recognizes a business that has grown substantially in the past two years, contributing to the economy of the region through employment opportunities.

–Certificate of Achievement: J-4 Automotive, Kit and Viola Johnson; Helena Paint and Wallpaper, Don Connole; Hahn Ranch and Feed Supply, John and Tamie Hahn; Townsend Sinclair, James and Ruth Schauber. Certificates recognize businesses demonstrating steady growth and customer service in the region.

–Economic Impact Award: American Chemet Corporation, Eric Schindler; Alan Nicholson, Nicholson, Inc. The award recognizes a person or entity for extraordinary leadership in the advancement of the economy of the region.
In addition, Gateway announced the officers for its Board of Directors:

–President: Mike Dalton

–Vice President: Rick Hays

–Treasurer: Tony Murnion

–Secretary: Bob Fusie
