Rep. Rehberg’s disconnect misses importance of Pell grants to Montana

All too often, rural America gets the short end of the stick. Crucial national investments – in education or transportation or health care – too often go to families in more populated areas of the country, not families in Glendive or Malta. We get that it’s simply too easy for America’s leaders to put the money where the most votes are. We see it every day.

As angel investors in Montana, we work hard to get needed resources into the hands of Montana’s entrepreneurs. We work with investors from all over the Pacific Northwest and one thing we see over and over – the better equipped our small businesses are, the more jobs they create and the more businesses that can take root and grow in Montana.

Our success, however, relies heavily on an educated, innovative work force of Montanans whose ideas are worth investing in. Montanans need leaders who understand our values and the unique challenges we face. We don’t need to reject the very resources necessary for Montana’s future.

Tell Rehberg Pell grant cuts are detrimental for students

For many Montana students, including myself, Pell grants are the only thing that make it possible to pursue our dreams. Frankly, I’m incredibly disappointed Congressman Denny Rehberg has supported cutting Pell grants and taking away my generation’s opportunity and ability to follow our dreams and create quality lives, and achieve the American Dream.

Rehberg has been pushing an irresponsible budget plan that will make college unaffordable for many Montana students. This news comes just as the cost of going to college is going up. It’s no secret that it’s getting very expensive to go to college.
