Senator Baucus Announces APEC Export Seminar for Montana Businesses

At Senator’s Urging Trade Experts to Help Montana Business Sell More Goods, Services Overseas

Montana’s Senior U.S. Senator invited Montana business owners to a session on "Export Finance and Market Access" to be held at the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center in Bozeman tomorrow, Tuesday, May 17th. Baucus invited businesses across the state to the workshop as part of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings he brought to Big Sky this month. Baucus insisted on the meeting to open up the APEC conference to even more Montanans than the more than 100 companies already signed up http://baucus.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=477 .

"I am so proud of the way Montana businesses are seizing the opportunity APEC is bringing to our state, and this meeting will help even more Montanans get involved," Baucus said. "More exports, means more jobs and this seminar will give Montana businesses owners even more tools to break into markets around the world."

U.S. agencies involved in trade will meet with Montana firms to provide an overview of markets in Chile, Canada, China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, senior staff will discuss financing and export risk management tools as well as government programs designed to protect business assets such as intellectual property rights and enforcement of trade agreements.

Learn about market opportunities in Canada and Chile, to include presentations from USFCS Senior Commercial Officers Richard Steffens and Mitch Larsen.

2:45 pm – 3:30: Craig Allen, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, International Trade Administration:

Learn about market opportunities in China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
