Tough job market awaits graduates

At UM’s Lommasson Center, there’s a four-week waiting list to see one of the Office of Career Services’ four counselors.

May is here and the business of getting a job is forefront in the minds of thousands of graduating college seniors. What awaits is an uphill battle as the economy remains stagnant and unemployment numbers hold at stubbornly high rates. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show a 9.4 percent jobless rate for recent college grads.
