Angel-Fundable Startup Companies – What do angels look for in new investments?

As has been discussed in previous columns, angel investors are wealthy persons who invest time and money in startup companies. The time invested is often 1-2 days per month as a mentor to the entrepreneur and management team and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Individual investors typically invest $25,000 to $100,000 as part of a group that invests $200,000 to $1 million in early stage companies. In recent years, angel investors have become more effective investors by forming and joining angel groups, such as the Frontier Angel Fund in Kalispell, Montana. Angels in groups are easier for entrepreneurs to find and can bring more resources to entrepreneurial ventures.
