Oval magazine gives University of Montana students creative voice

Publishing The Oval is a major goal, but Rogers said there’s also a strong focus on developing a cohesive, creative community for undergraduate writers. For instance, the students of The Oval run a reading series called Poetry and Prose on the first Tuesday of every month and run a variety of creative writing workshops. This year marks the first Oval Reading Series, which kicks off on April 29th with Charles McGrath, former fiction editor for the New Yorker who currently writes for the New York Times.

"There are a lot of passionate people in the undergraduate program and inevitably they’re going to find that there isn’t enough for them here, and that’s when things like The Oval happen."
