Missoula stakeholder committee backs $1.14M ballot request to help fund teacher salaries, benefits

Missoula voters will be asked to contribute almost $1.14 million to salaries and benefits for teachers in a May 3 election, under a recommendation by a Missoula County Public Schools committee.

The committee decided Tuesday evening to recommend that amount based on its forecast, however shaky, of what the Montana Legislature will do in terms of school funding. The MCPS Board of Trustees will vote on that recommendation Wednesday night.

The committee is made up of administrators, school board members and citizens alike, but has no voting power.
