Graduation Matters Missoula program wins national Magna Award

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

A relatively new, local effort to reduce high-school dropout rates in Missoula has already garnered national recognition.

This week, the National School Boards Association announced that Graduation Matters Missoula http://graduationmattersmissoula.com/ , a community-school partnership spearheaded by Missoula County Public Schools, is one of 18 recipients of its 2011 Magna Awards. The awards recognize educational programs with strong collaboration between school boards and the community.

The award means that Graduation Matters Missoula will be featured in the April 2011 issue of the American School Board Journal.
