Montana teens helping build a stronger community

Thanks in part to the long hours put in by two dedicated 18-year-olds, Amanda Schult and Maria Gondeiro, the residents of Belt have a free place to work out just down the street.

Located in the basement of the town’s school, the Belt Wellness Center is open seven days a week and is used by at least 150 members of the small community.

"The community center has been very well received," said Keith Hoyer, Belt High School’s marketing teacher who wrote the grant proposals that provided funding for the center to open in January 2010. "We have all age groups represented and are trying to get more senior citizens involved."
