The chaos theory of leadership

Leaders need to let a little chaos into their lives, says Marjorie Kaplan, president of the Animal Planet and Science networks. Rather than self-censoring in the name of stability, companies should cultivate their employees’ kooky streaks to unlock their creativity. "You must find a way to try ideas that don’t seem like they make any sense, to let people who are those kinds of people just go spiraling off for a while," Kaplan says.
