Montana rural water summit draws 1,000 to Great Falls
When Brady built its water treatment plant 20 years ago, it was the top of the line.
Today, the plant is woefully outdated and the town’s water fails to meet state Department of Environmental Quality standards.
Brady, which has a population of less than 500, still is paying for the first plant so coming up with the millions of dollars needed to bring it up to state and federal standards is unimaginable.
As far as Brady County Water Board member Mike Townsend is concerned, the town’s only option to pay for the project is state and federal grants. However, considering the political budget slashing rhetoric at both levels, any hope for a fix seemingly has flown out the window.
"We’ll just have to do the best we can with what we’ve got," he said.
