Venture group allows nonprofits to compete for funding
February 17, 2011/
Jennifer Carr has just three minutes to convince an audience of 200-plus people that an organization that provides used and donated cars to families in need should receive $20,000 to advertise its mission.
Ms. Carr, program director for North Hills Community Outreach’s Community Auto, has been honing her speech since being selected as a finalist for Fast Pitch, an event scheduled for Thursday in which 10 local nonprofits will compete for cash raised by Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners http://psvp.org/ .
"We like to look and fund and work with early stage ideas from the nonprofit sector," said John Denny, founder and chair of PSVP.
