When shop teacher Weston Jones told Cole Daniels to have a little creative fun on the Florence-Carlton High School’s new $15,000 plasma metal-cutting machine, the senior didn’t hesitate.
In about 15 minutes, with a little help from Jones loading his design into the machine’s computer, Daniels had produced a small cutout of a jackalope – a professionally cut metal sign that could proudly hang at any Bitterroot Valley cabin or home.
"It’s pretty neat," Daniels said.
And the amount of fun and creativity the machine allows only enhances projects that finish looking like professional metal machine shop jobs, Jones said.
