Kalispell Schools Ask Public for Cost-Cutting Ideas – MCPS Schedules Building Reserve Meetings

Staring down a potential budget shortfall of anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million, Kalispell’s School District 5 is asking the public to be part of the budgeting solution by taking a survey http://www.flatheadbeacon.com/?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sd5.k12.mt.us to outline school-funding priorities.

Superintendent Darlene Schottle said the survey should help show what the public and school staff think are the most important and least important aspects of the district’s budget, which would be considered in the event that cuts need to be made.

Building reserve meeting schedule

Informational meetings about Missoula County Public Schools’ proposed building reserve levies are scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. at the following times and locations:

* Feb. 15 at Meadow Hill library

* Feb. 17 at Chief Charlo library

* Feb. 23 at Sentinel High cafeteria

* Feb. 24 at Lowell library

* March 14 at Big Sky High cafeteria

* March 15 at Washington library

* March 17 at Hawthorne library

* March 22 at Cold Springs library

* April 18 at Hellgate High cafeteria

* April 19 at Paxson library

* April 20 at Rattlesnake library

More meetings may be added.
