FAST Grant Awarded – Counseling Assistance for Montana Businesses

Counseling Assistance for Businesses – Innovation and Commercialization of New Technologies

The Montana Department of Commerce recently received a Federal and State Technology (FAST) award from the U.S. Small Business Administration to support a statewide outreach effort.

A key objective of this grant award is to improve the participation of small technology firms in the innovation and commercialization of new technologies. The grant is being administered by the Department’s Montana Technology Innovation Partnership (MTIP) program. MTIP currently delivers no-cost individualized assistance to entrepreneurs and companies engaged in developing innovative new technologies. This assistance is delivered by two independent consultants with expertise and experience in the field of technology development and commercialization.

Thanks to the additional federal funding through the FAST grant award, MTIP is actively seeking opportunities to deliver its services to all reaches of the state. The grant will allow the Department to step up its efforts in helping your technology companies compete for federal funding. MTIP currently focuses on assisting companies that are seeking long-term research and development funding through the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. MTIP’s consultants address such topics as proposal development, intellectual-property protection and management, government accounting, contract management, and commercialization planning, among others.

Please contact us by phone or email in the coming weeks to discuss in more detail MTIP’s capabilities. We are hoping to spread the word and reach companies that might not be aware of the MTIP program. Let us know if you or any other individuals or companies in your area could benefit from these services. Contact the MTIP office at 406-841-2749, or e-mail [email protected].

Sincerely,

Ann Desch
