Friends of Arlee, Montana School helps fill in where education funds fall short

Classroom budgets can’t cover everything and Friends of Arlee’s "mini grants" have provided "extras" for teachers for years. These extras are really essentials left out of crunched budgets, Friends of Arlee treasurer and longtime member Tony Hoyt said. Almost $7,500 in mini-grant materials was secured for teachers this year alone.

The grants are just one piece of the group’s mission to continually work to benefit the children of Arlee. Last year’s fundraising bumper crop meant that graduating seniors were given more than $9,000 in scholarships. The seven-member board is hoping to grow donations even more in the coming year.
