Womentoring program helps Wyoming women build business, political confidence

Two graduates of the Womentoring http://www.womentumwyo.org/womentoring.php pilot program in Jackson say it gave them the confidence to run for elective office.

Ruth Ann Petroff, who will be sworn in as a state representative from House District 16 on Jan. 11, said she never ran for office before last year.

Petroff has, however, worked on campaigns for other candidates and on issues for the past 15 years.

"But it was always behind the scenes. Like a lot of women, I was more comfortable working behind the scenes," Petroff said.

"It’s another thing to put yourself out there," she added. "I think the program gave me the confidence to take the next step."
