Educating Parents

"Over the years, significant discoveries in the fields of neuroscience, childhood trauma, grief and loss, child development, and family systems have fueled the evolution of Intermountain’s http://www.intermountain.org core treatment philosophy from that of the relatively narrow Attachment Treatment model to a broader, more effective method of caring for emotionally distressed children–the Developmental/Relational treatment approach. The cumulative experiential knowledge of Intermountain staff has played a huge and significant part in the development of such a unique and effective model.

Nearly two years of research and over 100 years of experience went into creating the Online Parent Handbook. This website is a comprehensive resource that focuses on parenting traumatized and emotionally distressed children, offering an extension of the parenting tools presented in our live trainings.

Through this handbook, we will cover many strategies to help children whose early experiences deprive them of the essential capacity to connect with others. This dynamic training is suitable for parents, grandparents, students, caregivers and medical, legal, educational and mental health professionals. Written for any individual interested in understanding how to help children realize their full potential, it is our sincerest hope that you will be able to apply this information to your daily life.
