Public to decide which ski ads will tout Utah

The state Office of Tourism has three 30-second commercials ready to go for a $1.1 million blitz promoting Utah skiing on national cable television stations starting Jan. 2.

Only two of the ads will be shown.

So Tourism Office Managing Director Leigh von der Esch has come up with a contest to let the public decide which two are broadcast over the campaign’s three-week life. The third will be relegated to a spot on the office’s website along with commercials from the first two years that show actors in snowflake costumes carrying the state’s winter sales pitch.
