The community, the state, the nation and the world showed its compassion and giving spirit this week by responding to a Missoula family’s plea for help.

When word got out in a Missoulian story that the family of 8-year-old Mikaslyn Larson had until Friday to come up with $35,000 for a critical, possibly lifesaving hip surgery doctors scheduled for Nov. 16, people around the globe opened their wallets.

Donations poured in from Missoula, from across Montana and from distant places like Florida, Switzerland and as far away as South Africa.
