MCT undertakes Broadway send-up ‘The Producers’

The worst show on Broadway sure has enjoyed a good run over the years. That’s hardly what characters Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom intended when they set out to con Manhattan’s wealthy elite with a guaranteed flop. But it’s exactly what comedian Mel Brooks hoped would happen when he penned the screenplay to his 1968 debut feature film, "The Producers," and its subsequent 2001 Broadway stage adaptation.

MCT Community Theatre presents "The Producers," a musical comedy by Mel Brooks, in performances Nov. 5-7 and 10-14 at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts. Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 6:30 p.m. on Sundays, with additional matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15-$20, available at the MCT Box Office, online at http://www.mctinc.org, or by calling 728-PLAY.
