Distributor of hunting gear closes Belgrade facility
BELGRADE (AP) — Butler Creek, a manufacturer of hunting and shooting accessories, is
closing its Belgrade plant and moving operations to a new 100,000-square-foot facility at
Meridian, Idaho, officials said.
By the AP The Independent Record
The plant has about 80 employees. Those not moving with the company will receive a
severance package and other assistance, the company said.
Butler Creek was acquired by Michaels of Oregon, located in Oregon City, in 1996. It is a
company familiar to sportsmen for the many accessories it manufactures, including several
types of rifle scope covers, target barrels, injection-molded stocks for rifles and shotguns
and other accessories.
Officials said the decision to move the Belgrade operation is part of a company plan to
consolidate manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations.
The company also has a plant in Boise, Idaho, where nylon and leather slings, holsters,
belts and other accessories are manufactured.
Officials said the move is expected to be completed by mid-October.
