Packing business: Boulder Creek Packs builds packs for fire fighters and more

Nancy Joy heard a joke when she first moved to Montana 25 years ago that turned out to ring true.

"People said that there is an easy way to make a small fortune in the Bitterroot Valley," Joy recalls. "And that is to start out with a large fortune."

Joy chuckles at the joke, but there is an echo of her reality in the statement.

"I actually had a lot of money when I moved here from Alaska," she said. "So the joke is very apt for me."
