MAEDC: Missoula economic development organization lays off 2

The Missoula organization dedicated to promoting economic development has hit hard times and is taking significant cost-savings measures to protect its core mission.

Due to budget concerns, two positions at the Missoula Area Economic Development Corp. http://www.maedc.org have been eliminated ,and other changes are in the works, said Dick King, executive director of the organization.

The jobs that got the ax: MAEDC senior vice president and the operations and membership coordinator, who also served as the office manager.

"Those jobs were eliminated for financial reasons; it had nothing to do with the job performance of the people who had those jobs," King said. "It was strictly a budget action we needed to undertake."
