Purdue sets its eyes on Silicon Valley

Purdue University and the Indiana Economic Development Corp. are looking to set up shop in high tech’s land of milk and money, California’s Silicon Valley.

The school and the state are making plans to open a small outreach office in Mountain View, Calif. It’s a prime spot in the San Francisco Bay Area with close access to many venture capitalists, as well as tech and biotech entrepreneurs.

"Purdue is a very, very well known name out in California," said Mitch Roob, Indiana’s secretary of commerce and chief executive officer of the IEDC. "California is a place that we think has a lot of Indiana connections."
