Juneau to Address State Chamber’s 78th Annual Meeting October 6 in Billings

Montana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Denise Juneau will address the Annual Meeting of the Montana Chamber of Commerce. The organization’s 78th Annual Meeting will be held October 6 in Billings. The meeting will include the Annual Membership Meeting, Annual Board of Directors Meeting, and changing of the leadership for the organization. The program begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Billings Hotel, with a reception. The banquet follows at 6:15 p.m.

Juneau’s remarks, noting the importance of the business/education connection, will begin around 6:45 p.m. Juneau became Superintendent of Public Instruction in Jan. of 2009. The daughter of two educators, she is an educator herself, and was named Educator of the Year by the National Indian Education Assn. Worked at OPI. She received her undergraduate degree at MSU, Masters at Harvard, and her law degree from the University of Montana. As Superintendent, she is responsible for oversight and advocacy for Montana’s public schools.

After the banquet, remarks by Sherry Cladouhos, Chair of the Board of Directors, will start the program for the evening. Cladouhos will touch on aspects of her year as head of the state’s leading business organization. Cladouhos has announced her retirement from her position as President of BlueCross BlueShield of Montana before the end of this calendar year.

Cladouhos will also conduct the Annual Meetings of the State Chamber. This includes election of Directors for the Chamber’s 2010-2011 fiscal year, which begins October 1. Officers for that fiscal year will also be elected, including the 2010-2011 Chair of the Board of Directors. That is slated to be David Brown, President/CEO of Wyo-Ben, based in Billings. He will make remarks on the coming year for the Chamber, including the legislative agenda for the 2011 Session. Juneau’s speech will follow Brown’s.
