Go online to learn about candidates for state offices

An increasing number of handy tools are available on the Internet for voters to learn more about congressional candidates, where they stand on issues and who supports them financially.

These websites offer valuable information about candidates to supplement the campaign coverage provided by your local newspapers, television and radio stations.

The latest comes from Project Vote Smart, the national nonpartisan, nonprofit group based in Philipsburg. In addition to its traditional online information about candidates, Project Vote Smart has developed a quick and easy way for people to compare their own views with the stances of congressional candidates on a dozen key issues.

It’s called VoteEasy and can be found at http://www.votesmart.org. Montana was one of the first states included. Project Vote Smart will be putting up similar information for congressional districts across the country.
