Panel at Montana Economic Development Summit stresses need for broadband in small town America
Lance Trebesch, CEO of online event management and ticket company http://www.TicketPrinting.com, said his company looked for a place to set up and chose rural Meagher County, Montana. Today the company has brought jobs to Harlowton.
But he stressed that wouldn’t have been possible without high-speed broadband Internet service.
“It is what has allowed our company to grow,” he said.
Reliable high-speed Internet service is absolutely crucial in rural areas to help people gain good job opportunities in the 21st Century.
That was the consensus of a panel of business leaders who are working to promote “homeshoring” of Americans.
“Broadband access is really the backbone of these types of companies,” said Erica Benton, spokeswoman for oDesk.com, a company that hires home online workers. “We work with people who want to work and companies who need people.”
