Largest solar grid in state makes Ketchum, Idaho affordable housing project one of the greenest affordable housing developments in the country

Crews putting the finishing touches on Ketchum’s latest affordable housing project are installing what will be the largest non-industrial grid-tied installation of photo voltaic solar panels in Idaho.

When all 247 of the high-efficiency panels on the roofs of Northwood Place have been installed, they will generate 71,000 kilowatt-hours per year.

That’s enough to offset the cost of a geothermal heat pump system used to melt snow in the apartment area, heat gutters and provide lighting and heating for the common areas of the 32-unit complex.
