Missoula students outperform state average but can improve, Apostle says

If education were pugilism, Missoula County Public Schools students would be thumping their competition.

Over the last two years, students across the district have performed far above the rest of the state in reading, math and science – a major highlight of the district’s semi-annual MCPS Status Report reviewed Thursday afternoon.

Addressing MCPS board members and department heads, Superintendent Alex Apostle didn’t exactly trumpet the news.

"We have reason to celebrate, but we are not satisfied," he said.
